UI Overall Best Graduating Student Basirat Rufai

The overall best-graduating student of the University of Ibadan, Basirat Rufai, with an outstanding 6.90/7.00 grade point, has won a full PhD scholarship to a university in the United States.

Rufai, who bagged her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the premiere university, graduated with an outstanding 6.90/7.00 cumulative grade point of first-class honours in 2021.

Basira was awarded the best-graduating student of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the overall best-graduating student of the University of Ibadan because of her remarkable performance.

She remained consistent in her excellent academic pursuit as she earned a full Ph.D. scholarship to Rutgers University, Camden, in the United States.

Basira shared her achievement of winning the scholarship to study for her doctorate on LinkedIn.

She mentioned that she will be studying at the Computational Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Rutgers University.

She added that she was awarded the full-ride scholarship in the form of an assistantship and a presidential fellowship for the program.

”I am excited to share that I will be starting my Ph.D. program at the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Rutgers University-Camden,” Basirat wrote.

Basira expressed her gratitude to her past professors for putting in good recommendation letters for her. She also thanked her family for their guidance and support during her application process.

Basira stated that she is excited about the new phase and also takes pride in herself and her achievements. She added that she is eager to explore the new opportunity.

In a recent interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Bashirat said, ‘The next things after my graduation are an internship, NYSC, and also going for my MSc. I see myself as a successful pharmacist, paving the way in the area of research. I also see myself being addressed as a Dr already (laughs). I see myself winning in the area of pharmacy practice I delve into and also encouraging younger colleagues. Then, I see myself married with children too.
