The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Muideen Babatunde Olatunji, has said the state government will support all initiatives that are geared towards ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
Olatunji stated this during the foundation-laying of the proposed primary health care centre at Itabo Community, Lanlate.
Olatunji, who lauded the initiator of the project, Hon. Adebayo Kehinde Lateef, stressed that such a gesture is the first in the history of Primary Health Care ( PHC) in the state for a supervisory Councillor for Health to embark on such a huge project.
He eulogised Hon. Lateef, who is the Supervisory Councillor for Health at Ibarapa East Local Government, for making the health of his people and community a priority.
The ES, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, informed the gathering that the state government has mapped out the construction of a level-3 PHC in all 351 wards in the state, adding that 210 facilities have been completed while 90 facilities are at different stages of completion.
He revealed that the state government is in partnership with the French government to equip and upgrade health facilities in the state.
“The state is also enjoying a World Bank-assisted project to support the revitalization of Primary Health Care Centers. In the first phase of the project, 264 facilities have been supported with N4.5m each for some of the needed interventions in those facilities in a bid to make them qualitative in service provision for the masses”, he said
Olatunji added that the state government is doing everything possible to provide drugs and other logistics in all the facilities to improve the quality of life for the citizens.
He further stated that the state government has commenced the enlistment of 100,000 vulnerable persons on the Social Health Insurance Scheme.
