On Tuesday, gunmen attacked the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla, in Enugu State, Nigeria’s southeast.
According to reports, the attackers, who are suspected of kidnapping, seized a female director and a security officer from the site.
The hospital employees disclosed that the director was traced to the hospital’s grounds at 9 a.m. on Tuesday by gunmen who shot at her SUV.
One of the staff members, who requested anonymity because she was not permitted to speak about the situation, described the abducted director as Ngozi Mbah, a nurse.
She questioned the lack of security personnel around the site, although it is a registered institution.
“We are still in fear,” she stated, promising to provide more information on the attack later.
A video of a Toyota SUV allegedly belonging to the abducted director has been circulating on social media.
“One of our nurses was stolen just now. This is her automobile,” a person remarked in the 26-second video obtained by REPORTERS AT LARGE.
The video was shared on Facebook at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Enugu State Police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe, when reached, said he had not yet been updated on the event.
