The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be crowned the next Olubadan of Ibadanland. This is subject to the approval of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
He will be crowned following the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun’s demise on Thursday.
He is the successor to the late Olubadan.
In a statement by his chief press secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde confirmed the monarch’s death. Oba Balogun died at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.
The late monarch, who was born on October 18, 1942, reigned for two years. According to Islamic rights, he was buried on Friday at 4 p.m.
According to The Nation, the next line, Olakulehin, heads the Balogun line and hails from Ita Baale in Ibadan North East Local Government.
He was a member of the House of Representative in the Third Republic
It is expected that palace drummers will move from Alli-Iwo to the Ita Baale Palace of Ọba Olakulehin, heralding his symbolic ascension to the throne.
