A groundbreaking web-based programme, Admissions Checker, has been developed to assist senior high school students in finding suitable universities and courses to pursue at the higher education level.
The user-friendly website Admissions Checker uses advanced algorithms to calculate students’ chances of being admitted to their preferred universities.
The developer, Professor Kobby Mensah of the University of Ghana, noted that the portal’s development was motivated by the desire to alleviate the frustration and financial burden students and parents face during the university application process.
Professor Mensah disclosed: “Many students purchase multiple application forms, hoping that at least one will be successful, which can be a significant financial strain.
“Admissions Checker aims to streamline this process, providing students with a convenient and accessible tool to explore university and course options.”
While explaining the platform’s functionality, the developer said, “The portal can be used from anywhere, regardless of the student’s location, making it an invaluable resource for students across the country. Students can receive an instant assessment of their admission prospects by simply inputting their academic credentials and desired university.
“This empowers them to make informed decisions about their educational future, reducing uncertainty and anxiety.
“The innovative platform has the potential to impact the university admissions process in Ghana, offering students and their guardians the opportunity to be realistic in the university and course choices, thereby reducing the uncertainties related to this stage of their academic journey.”
He added: “The Admissions Checker platform offers a beacon of hope for students navigating the complex university admissions landscape.”
