The Samuel Ladoke Akintola Memorial Foundation has announced that the annual Samuel Ladoke Akintola Memorial Lecture and Colloquium will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The event, scheduled to commence at 10:00 AM, will be held at the Great Hall, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
According to a statement signed by the Foundation’s Coordinator, Mr. Yemi Adedokun, this year’s lecture will feature a keynote address by His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State. The event will also have the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside all South West Governors, underscoring the importance of this annual intellectual discourse.
The Chief Hosts for the occasion are Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Chief (Amb.) Abayomi Akintola; Dr. Abimbola Akintola; and Justice Ladiran Akintola.
Oba Sen. Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, former Governor of Oyo State, will serve as the Chairman of the Day and preside over the lecture proceedings.
An esteemed panel of experts, including Prof. Rotimi Animasahun, Oloye Lekan Alabi, and Remi Olalere, will convene a colloquium to address contemporary socio-political issues, per Akintola’s vision. Chief Ademola Babalola, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Oyo State, will moderate the session to ensure a robust and enlightening discussion.
The Samuel Ladoke Akintola Memorial Lecture & Colloquium has become a pivotal platform for intellectual exchange, honouring the contributions of the ogbomoso-born late premier of the Western region and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Samuel Ladoke Akintola, to Nigeria’s political and cultural development.
The Foundation encourages scholars, government officials, and the general public to participate in this celebration of leadership, history, and knowledge.
