The Agura Family of Ido, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, has appealed to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, to intervene and stop an alleged land grabber from further encroaching on and selling its landed property.

The Agura family, in a statement on Monday by the head of the family, Madam Taibat Asake Akinwunmi Agura, warned that the land grabber, if not checked, may invite mayhem and crisis into the Ido Community.

The family further alleged that the said land-grabber, which it further accused of being an impostor, has been perpetrating the illegal land encroachment and outright selling, boasting that he has the support of the governor, the Olubadan and the Olubadan-In-Council to perpetrate his illegal activities.

It stated that the impostor and land grabber had capitalised on the state government’s recent revelations about the incursions of some armed bandits to make spurious claims of ownership of the Agura Family’s land in the Ido Community.

“As if that illegal action is not damaging enough, the impostor, a notorious land-grabber who is not an indigene of the Ido Community, has been going about selling parcels of land that belong to the Agura Family, who are the true and legitimate children of the Agura, the founder of the Ido Community.

“This notorious impostor also claimed that he is acting on the authority of the Olubadan of Ibadanland to perpetrate his nefarious act of illegally selling land that rightly belongs to the Agura family.

He further claimed that he was so appointed in that capacity by the Olubadan-In-Council, and with the knowledge of the Oyo State Government.

We are hereby making a passionate appeal to our amiable governor, His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde, our highly revered royal father, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, and the entire Olubadan-In-Council to please intervene and checkmate the illegalities being perpetrated by this foreign impostor who has no claim to the indigeneship of the entire Ido Community.

“Your Excellency, our royal father and our fathers in the Olubadan-In-Council, Ibadan is known as a land of peace. We know that you abhor injustice and that you can never allow any illegality to be perpetrated by any individual or group, no matter how highly placed,” the Agura Family stated.

The family called for the intervention of Governor Makinde, the Olubadan and the Olubadan-In-Council to avoid disharmony, strife and mayhem in the Ido Community.

“Your Excellency, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, out highly-revered royal father, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin and the Olubadan-In-Council, kindly intervene in order to forestall disharmony, strife and mayhem that may attend the illegalities being perpetrated by this impostor and notorious land-grabber.

“He has been going about, boasting that he has the backings of the powers-that-be in Ibadaland and Oyo State and thus nobody can challenge him on any of his illegal activities in Ido Community.

“He should be stopped from wrongly taking over what does not belong to him,” Madam Taibat Asake Akinwunmi Agura added in the statement.

The Agura Family also urged the people and residents of Idoland to exercise caution and not be swayed by the alleged impostor and notorious land-grabber.

Whoever wants to know the truth about the real ownership of landed property in Idoland should endeavour to contact the right family, the Agura Family,” the family added.
