The Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye, a global association of Ogbomoso indigenes, has strongly condemned the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye’s pronouncement dissolving the association’s executive committee, labeling it “divisive” and contributing to polarization in the city.

In a press statement, the association re-affirmed its rejection of the dissolution, declaring it “null, void, unconstitutional, illegal and ultra-vires.”

The group insists that as a registered entity with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and guided by its own constitution, the monarch’s unilateral action is unacceptable and contrary to the association’s grundnorm.

Key Points of Contention

– The Soun’s dissolution bypassed the association’s constitution and didn’t consult other royal patrons.
– The association suspended Engr. Lanre Ogunwole (imposed by the monarch) and appointed Alhaji Abdulrahim Adetayo Yusuf as Acting President.
– Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye asserts it remains “vibrant and alive” with elected executives and Board of Trustees members.
– The group urges Ogbomoso indigenes worldwide to disregard the monarch’s “illegal” pronouncement.

Association’s Stance

The statement signed by Acting President Yusuf and PRO Comrade T.M. Balogun stresses the association’s registered status and constitution ratified in 2017 shouldn’t be overridden by the Grand Patron’s fiat. They warn the Soun’s action is sparking polarization in Ogbomoso, calling it “an avoidable potentially dangerous situation.”
