The MATAN Food Bank Professionals Association of Nigeria (MFBPAN), in collaboration with the MATAN Food Bank Foundation (MFBF), the MATAN Community Compound Food and Nutrition Resolution Initiative (MCCFNRI), and the Community Street Food and Nutrition Feeding Foundation (CSFNFF), is set to launch two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity in Nigeria.

The Automated MATAN Food Security Initiative (AMFSI) and MATAN E-Transportation System (METS) will be officially flagged off on November 26th-28th, 2025, at the National Institute of Sport (NIS), National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by Amb. Dr. Olakunle Moses Johnson, BOT Chairman (IMFSI) (MCCFNRI) Group Project, and Amb. Felix Johnson Osakwe, BOT Member & National Secretary, the event is designed to address the pressing issues of food insecurity in Nigeria.

MATAN FOOD BANK has been identified as a saviour of the poor in Nigeria’s informal sectors, and the launch of the nationwide digital platform is expected to revolutionise the way food security and nutrition are approached in Nigeria and across the African continent, particularly in all Commonwealth nations.

The event will feature a thorough profiling and training process for national, zonal, state, local government, and community representatives across the nation. This is to ensure that genuine and committed individuals are involved in the success of the projects.

“The guidelines and required documents will be given to all leaders immediately after the training and lectures about the initiatives,” the statement read.

The representatives will be announced through all social media channels to ensure transparency and accountability.

The launch is expected to bring together stakeholders from various sectors, contributing to the development of the country.

Foreign partners will also be in attendance, and agreements will be signed.

Operational accounts will be opened for all state and local governments and added to the website of the national platform.

Media coverage is expected, and the world will be informed about the launch and the pilot phase of the project.

The event will feature various committees, including the National Working Committee (NWC), National Organising Committee (NOC), Local Organising Committee (LOC), Media and Publicity Committee, Finance Committee, Welfare Committee, Security and Intelligence Committee, Contact and Mobilisation Committee, Legal and Litigation Committee, Managing Directors of Partner Companies, Community Supervisors, Community Agents, and State and LGA General Managers of METS.

The Chairman of the event, Amb. Dr. Olakunle Moses Johnson has extended an invitation to esteemed leaders and members to attend the flag-off ceremony.

The event promises to be a significant milestone in addressing food insecurity and promoting nutrition in Nigeria.

MATAN, which stands for “Motivating Action Towards Achieving Nutrition,” is a group of organisations committed to making a difference in the lives of Nigerians.

The launch of AMFSI and METS is expected to be a game-changer in the fight against food insecurity in Nigeria.
