The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu Ode has formally distanced itself from Fuji icon and Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), declaring that he is not a member of the royal lineage and therefore not qualified to contest for the Awujale throne.
The statement, issued on Thursday, follows rising controversy over K1’s reported ambition to succeed the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who joined his ancestors on July 13, 2025, after a remarkable 65-year reign.
K1 had earlier written to the head of the Fusengbuwa family, expressing his interest in the stool and claiming ancestral ties to the Jadiara unit of the ruling house.
However, contrary evidence has since emerged. A letter signed years ago by the late Oba Adetona, conferring the title of Olori Omooba on the musician, reportedly identified him as belonging to the Fidipote Ruling House, not Fusengbuwa.
The revelation has intensified debate across Ijebuland, with many questioning whether a prince of Fidipote descent could legitimately aspire to a throne reserved strictly for Fusengbuwa descendants.
In response to the growing dispute, the Jadiara unit submitted a petition to the Fusengbuwa chairman and the Ogun State Government, stating categorically that K1 has no genealogical link to their lineage.
Speaking at Agunsenbi Ule Nla, the ancestral home of the ruling house, spokesperson of the nomination committee, Omoba Abiodun Adesanya Ogidan, reaffirmed the family’s position in clear terms.
“Wasiu Ayinde is not our family member,” he said.
Ogidan explained that a comprehensive review of historical and genealogical records, alongside consultations with all branches of the ruling house, including the Jadiara unit, showed no trace of the musician’s ancestry within Fusengbuwa. He further noted that the Olori Ebi of the unit K1 referenced had not endorsed him.
Admitting anyone without legitimate lineage, Ogidan warned, would amount to allowing impostors into the royal bloodline.
“History cannot be rewritten to include outsiders,” he stressed.
He also clarified that the nomination window for eligible princes and princesses had closed, and that what K1 submitted was only a family lineage form, not a valid nomination for the Awujale selection process.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House will publish the official list of nominated candidates on December 15, 2025, at Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu-Ode, in line with established succession procedures.
