Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, a district head in the Zazzau Emirate Council of Kaduna State slumped and died on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
The traditional ruler reportedly collapsed at the event before passing away at the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar gayan Zaria, later on.
According to Daily Trust, the monarch collapsed while attending an occasion along with the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
The Media and Publicity officer of the Zazzau, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement.
An eyewitness told REPORTERS AT LARGE that Pate, who was also a Council Member of the Emirate and Councillor in charge of Health Related Matters, suddenly slumped during the event and was rushed to the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan Zaria, where he was confirmed dead.
The Zazzau Emirate Council confirmed the incident in a statement issued by the Media and Publicity officer of the Zazzau, Abdullahi Kwarbai, on Thursday.
Kwarbai expressed great sadness over the passing of Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate.
