Lawmaker Hosts Education Worksop, Disburses Bursary To Students In Ogbomoso

A Federal Lawmaker, representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Local Government, Hon Segun Dokun Odebunmi, on Monday organized an educational advancement and empowerment program for students of secondary schools and tertiary institutions in his constituency.

Hon Odebunmi who is also the chairman House of Representative Committee on Information, National Orientiation Ethics and Value, peaking at the event which was held in Ogbomoso, said, “Bunvic Empowerment  Foundation was established to give credibility  and show quality assurance  of our promise to make life comfortable for people and erecting the fullest of hope that world will be a better place for all people who have contributed  directly or indirectly to the position I held today”.

He said further that the three core areas of attention of the foundation included educational enlightenment and advancement programm, agricultural and Health improvement, as well as Sport development.

While commending Hon Odebunmi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara, described the initiative as a giant stride which according to him, would go a long way in helping and  securing the  future of the younger generation.

Dogara, represented by Hon Abiodun Awoleye said, “We are proud of  Hon Odebunmi, a responsible and reliable lawmaker, and this  program is one of the evidences that he has not betrayed the confidence the electorate have in him.

Also in his remark, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon Yinka Taiwo, said: “Hon Odebunmi who is the only PDP lawmaker at the National Assembly from Oyo State is projecting our party’s manifesto with his adequate and qualitative representation at the National Assembly.

Taiwo, represented by the former secretary of the party, Alhaji Bashiru Akanbi, said “Bunvic  Foundation and Empowerment has positively affected the lives of people of Hon. Odebunmi’s constituency, and I am sure if other lawmakers replicate in their various constituencies, Nigeria would have moved beyond where it is today.

Legal luminary, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), who also delivered a paper on career opportunity for students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions in Nigeria said, “Hon Odebunmi has demonstrated his genuine intention to help the younger generation secure their future.”

Papers were also presented by Dr Kayode Ogunleye, Registrar, BOWEN University Iwo and the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ede, Professor Timothy Adebayo, while different prices were also given to students with best result in Surulere and Ogo Oluwa. And N2Million bursary was awarded to students  in tertiary institution from Hong Odebunmi’s constituency.
