The American Open University of Technology (ATECH), through its The EDGE Higher Education Workshop initiative, has donated 10 sets of modern computers worth millions of naira to People’s Girls Grammar School in Molete, Ibadan.

The donation aligns with The EDGE’s commitment to promoting technological advancement and digital literacy among Nigerian students.

The donation, presented by the Director of The EDGE, Dr. Seyi David Akanbi, aims to provide students with practical computer learning and exposure to technological knowledge. The event also marked the inauguration of a tech club and training for tech teachers.

“It is crucial for students to learn practically, as this enhances their understanding and propels them to apply their knowledge, ultimately bettering their lives, future, and the nation as a whole.”

Dr. Akanbi noted, “By providing students with access to modern computers and technology education, The EDGE is empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators.”

He urged the Nigerian government to prioritize investing in technology education for primary and tertiary students.

Dr. Akanbi said, “Technology is no longer the future; it’s the present. The government should commit to providing resources and training for Nigerian students.”

The Principal of People’s Girls Grammar School, Mrs. Veronica Alabi, praised Dr. Akanbi’s generosity and assured that the computers would enhance the students’ technological knowledge.

“Your contribution will have a lasting impact on our students’ academic journey and prospects. We assure you that we will use these computers optimally and maintain them with the utmost care. Our students and staff are eager to explore these computers’ vast possibilities,” Alabi said.

One of the students, Peace Agboola, appreciated The EDGE and Dr. Akanbi, noting that the donation would expose them to practical training and improve their lives.
