The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has alerted federal authorities to prosecute popular Nigerian Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (K1 De Ultimate)

This came just hours after the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, placed K1 De Ultimate on ‘no fly list’.

The NCAA petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to conduct a full investigation into what happened between K1 De Ultimate and ValueJet officials at the Abuja airport on Tuesday.

The NCAA noted that its investigation revealed that the musician allegedly violated the Nigerian Civil Aviation regulations.

Michael Achimugu, the spokesperson of the agency, in a statement, disclosed that all airline operators have been ordered to place KWAM 1 on the ‘no fly’ list to stop him from any air travel until the investigation ends.

Earlier, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo, said he received reports of the incident. He added that both KWAM 1 and the pilot acted under “a case of temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides that can lead to serious fatalities.”

“I have noted that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has temporarily suspended the licence of the Captain and the pilot pending full investigation. I commend them for their proactive action. However, I have also questioned their sense of justice in only acting against one party and not the other party. What applies to the goose must also apply to the gander. That is one of the tenets of Justice I have preached all my life. I will not sit idly by and allow this to pass.

“In the circumstance, I have also directed the NCAA to place KWAM 1 on a no-fly list pending further and full investigation, just like the captain and pilot. All airlines, both domestic and international, should immediately be informed of this directive, and anyone who flouts this directive risks the withdrawal of their operating licence.”

On Wednesday, 6 August, one video went viral on social media showing KWAM 1 in front of a plane while airport officials were discussing with him.

The pilot, however, took off, while the musician and the airport officials standing close to the plane dodged as it started taxiing.

The incident has led to reactions on social media and the suspension of two ValueJet pilots.

The aviation bodies, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), have submitted different preliminary reports on the incident.
