The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has planned a weeklong celebration in honour of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, who will ascend the throne as the 44th Olubadan next Friday, September 26, 2025.
This grand celebration is a testament to Oba Ladoja’s towering profile as a successful billionaire businessman, former Senator, Governor, and elder statesman.
A Committee of Distinction
A high-powered committee, co-chaired by billionaire businessmen Engr. Dotun Sanusi and Chief Adegboye Adegoke, has been inaugurated to oversee the festivities. Several prominent Ibadan sons have donated N10 million each to support the celebration, underscoring their commitment to honouring Oba Ladoja’s achievement.
Weeklong Programme Highlights
- Monday, September 22: Inter-religious prayers at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, and a stage play on Kabiyesi Arusa at Apex Hall, Yidi Agodi area.
- Tuesday, September 23: Cultural Day at the Olubadan Stadium.
- Wednesday, September 24: First Olubadan Coronation Lecture by Prof. Toyin Falola at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
- Thursday, September 25: Oba Ladoja’s 81st birthday celebration, featuring Islamic prayers and mega praise and worship.
- Friday, September 26: Coronation day at Mapo Hall, followed by a reception at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.
- Sunday, September 28: Thanksgiving service at Church of Ascension, Bodija, and grand civic reception at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
- Friday, October 3: Jumat service at Ibadan Central Mosque.
- Saturday, October 4: Traditional worshippers’ convergence at Ose Meji Temple, Oja’ba
