The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Prince Tewogbola Garuba Olaoye, widely known as Baba Cashman.

Prince Olaoye, an Ogbomoso-born businessman and grassroots politician, reportedly died in the early hours of Monday.

In a condolence message, Wolekanle described the late Baba Cashman as a foundational pillar of the PDP in Ogbomoso and a tireless grassroots mobiliser who dedicated his life to strengthening the party’s structures at the ward, local government and community levels.

He said the deceased was a loyal party man whose political journey was marked by sacrifice, commitment and unwavering belief in democracy, unity and people-oriented leadership.

Recalling their political engagements, Wolekanle noted that during the last Oyo North Senatorial District election, Baba Cashman actively accompanied him on campaign tours across communities, mobilising support and encouraging party faithful.

According to him, the death of Baba Cashman is a huge loss not only to the PDP but also to Ogbomoso land and Oyo State at large.

“He was a dependable ally and a strong pillar of support to the party at the grassroots. His contributions to the growth and stability of the PDP in Ogbomoso will not be forgotten,” Wolekanle said.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased, the PDP in Ogbomoso and party members across the state, praying that God would grant the late Prince Olaoye eternal rest and give his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Prince Garuba Tewogbola Olaoye, popularly called Alhaji Cashman or Baba Cashman, was regarded as one of the early builders of the PDP in Ogbomoso and remained actively involved in party activities until his death.
