The University of Ibadan (UI) has maintained its lead position among top universities in Nigeria, according to the newly released Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.

UI fell within the 801-1000 rank to lead other Nigerian universities, such as

  1. University of Lagos
  2. Bayero University, Kano
  3. Covenant University
  4. Landmark University
  5. Ahmadu Bello University
  6. Federal University of Technology, Minna
  7. University of Ilorin
  8. University of Jos
  9. University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking, in partnership with Elsevier, is trusted worldwide by students, academics, governments, and industry experts. This year, the list of the best universities in the world includes 2191 institutions from 115 countries and territories.

The institutions were ranked based on teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
