A member of the House of Representatives has issued a stern warning against an alleged conspiracy to remove the Oyo State Governor. Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west, has strongly condemned the alleged Seyi Makinde impeachment plot.
The lawmaker described the move as a dangerous development. He warned that it could easily undermine the hard-earned peace within the state.
Seyi Makinde Impeachment Plot: A Threat to Democracy
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the PDP lawmaker raised the alarm over a “leaked plot.” He alleged that the scheme involves several highly placed individuals.
Reports of the move to unseat Governor Makinde recently spread across the state. This news triggered intense reactions from both political stakeholders and residents.
Hon. Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, stated that these allegations require serious attention. He warned that any attempt to topple a duly elected government is a direct attack on democratic rule. He has now called for a concerted effort to resist any move that might disrupt the current Oyo State political crisis or stall developmental progress.
Calls for Accountability
The lawmaker was firm in his stance regarding the consequences for those involved. He stated:
“Such allegations must not be treated with kid gloves. Any act of disloyalty capable of destabilizing the state must be thoroughly investigated and treated as a crime against the state.”
Furthermore, the PDP Oyo State representative insisted that those found guilty of such actions must face the law. He noted that accountability remains the only way to preserve democratic institutions.
Focus on Development
Despite the political noise, Olajide maintained that the Makinde administration remains focused. He noted that the government continues to deliver the “dividends of democracy” to the people of Oyo.
Odidiomo urged residents to stay calm and remain law-abiding.
He concluded by asking the public to stay supportive of the current government to ensure continued growth in the region.
