The Pacesetter Elites Group has appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, to step back from active partisan interests. Instead, he should maintain his role as a unifying father figure for the region.
A Call for Non-Partisan Leadership
In a statement signed by the group’s President, Alhaji Olatunde Alao, the group noted that Oba Ladoja is still widely respected. His work for the growth of Oyo State remains a vital part of his public identity. The group argued that his influence is most effective when he remains neutral.
The group highlighted his legacy of leadership. They noted that his career continues to command respect across the political spectrum, despite what they called his “unfortunate impeachment.”
Preserving a Fatherly Legacy in Oyo State Politics
The group believes the elder statesman should avoid taking sides in the current political climate. They stressed that his voice is far too important to be tied to a single faction.
“Baba is a respected leader whose voice carries weight across the state. Rather than meddling in partisan politics at this time, we appeal to him to remain a unifying figure and relate with everyone as a father to all,” the statement read.
Building Bridges for Unity
According to the group, staying neutral would boost his status even further. It would allow him to act as a bridge-builder between different political actors in the state. The group expressed hope that the former governor would hear their plea. They believe this shift is necessary for the long-term unity and stability of Oyo State.
