The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Oyo State, Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and the nation’s security agencies for the successful Oyo school rescue of all pupils and teachers abducted in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as a remarkable victory for justice, security and responsible governance.

Comrade Titilola-Sodo gave the commendation on Saturday while featuring on the live edition of Tiwa L’oselu, a current affairs programme on Lagelu FM, Ibadan. He said the safe return of the victims has restored hope to families, reassured residents and demonstrated that with strong political will and coordinated security efforts, criminal elements can be effectively confronted and defeated.

Turning the Tide on the Oriire Kidnapping Operation

The AA governorship standard-bearer particularly appreciated the Federal Government and the Oyo State government for ensuring the victims regained their freedom without yielding to the demands of the kidnappers. According to Titilola-Sodo, refusing to pay ransom sends a strong message that criminality must never become a profitable enterprise, while also discouraging future acts of kidnapping and banditry.

He further applauded the gallantry, professionalism and sacrifice of the security agencies for successfully carrying out the rescue operation, neutralising some of the bandits and arresting eight suspects connected with the crime.

Titilola-Sodo noted that the successful operation would serve as a strong deterrent to criminally minded individuals not only in Oyo State but across Nigeria.

While expressing sympathy with the pupils, teachers and their families over the traumatic experience, the governorship candidate urged governments at all levels to sustain ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening intelligence gathering, enhancing community policing and improving Nigerian school security around classrooms and vulnerable communities across the state.

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance also called on residents of Oyo State to complement the efforts of government and security agencies by remaining vigilant at all times.

He urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious movements, unfamiliar persons or unusual activities within their communities to the appropriate security authorities, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in preventing crime.

He reaffirmed that security is a shared responsibility requiring active collaboration between government, security agencies and the people. He expressed confidence that with sustained vigilance, improved intelligence sharing and continued support for security operatives, Oyo State would remain safe, peaceful and conducive for education, investment and socio-economic development.
