The member representing the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of an abandoned bridge linking three communities.

During his visit to the site, the Oyo South APM candidate evaluated the deteriorating state of the critical route connecting Ring Road, Elewura, and Orita Challenge, where prolonged neglect continues to paralyse daily economic activities.

Critical Assessment of the Ring Road Elewura Infrastructure

The physical inspection allowed the lawmaker to gather direct evidence regarding the hardships imposed on motorists, local traders, and residents. Navigating through the neglected route, the federal representative spent time interacting with commuters who depend on the passage every day.

The two-term federal lawmaker stated that infrastructure directly affecting the daily lives and economic activities of residents should not be allowed to deteriorate without appropriate attention. He stressed that public officers must step out of their offices to witness the reality on the ground.

During his direct exchange with affected community members, the lawmaker highlighted the necessity of personal oversight when dealing with public assets:

Effective representation requires elected officials to identify challenges within their constituencies, assess them personally, and pursue appropriate solutions through the relevant public authorities. The physical inspection provides a baseline to determine the full scope of engineering works required and uncover the underlying factors that led to the initial abandonment of the project.

Addressing the gathered crowd along the Ring Road Elewura infrastructure corridor, the lawmaker explained that his findings would form the baseline for formal petitions to the federal and state ministries responsible for public works.

The lawmaker reiterated the role of infrastructure in rural and urban integration during his press briefing:

“Restoring critical infrastructure in strategic locations could improve mobility, reduce pressure on alternative routes and support local economic activities.”

He noted that the structural link serves as far more than concrete and rebar; it is an economic vein connecting local markets, schools, and residential quarters. When such vital links fail, the financial burden falls directly on ordinary citizens through increased transport fares, vehicle damage, and wasted travel time.

Future Commitments to Ibadan Communities

The inspection concluded with a firm pledge to pursue every available statutory route until contractors return to the site. The lawmaker reassured community members that the findings from the exercise would drive immediate engagement with relevant agencies to secure prompt intervention.

Concluding his address, the representative pledged sustained effort until the route is fully reopened to traffic:

“I will explore every possible avenue to get the bridge fixed, promising to pursue the necessary engagements with relevant authorities and stakeholders consistently until a practical solution is achieved and the abandoned infrastructure is restored in record time.”

Local leaders welcomed the site visit, expressing cautious optimism that direct legislative intervention will finally resolve years of commuter gridlock and economic disruption across the affected Ibadan districts.
