American Olympic champion Masai Russell and Brazilian star Alison Dos Santos delivered career-defining sprint performances, while Swedish pole vault icon Armand “Mondo” Duplantis topped a historic field on an unforgettable night in Switzerland.

The Weltklasse Zürich meeting exploded with speed within a staggering 40-minute window. Dos Santos opened the historic spree in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, charging out of lane six to cross the finish line in a world-record 45.80 seconds. The 2022 world champion took 0.14 seconds off Karsten Warholm’s previous mark of 45.94, becoming the first hurdle athlete in history to break the sub-46-second barrier. Warholm finished second in 46.69, while Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel took third in 47.50.
Minutes later, Masai Russell delivered a flawless performance in the women’s 100-meter hurdles. Russell clocked a world-record time of 12.09 seconds under zero-wind conditions (0.0m/s), trimming 0.03 seconds off the 12.12 mark set by Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan in 2022. Amusan finished second in a season-best 12.23 seconds.
“I’m still processing it,” Russell told reporters after her historic run. “I’ve been chasing it and the world’s been talking about it, so just to finally do it, it’s like, all right, I can breathe a little bit. Not all the way, but partially.”
According to ongoing tactical analysis by Reporters At Large, the track conditions in Zurich combined with still air to produce one of the highest-velocity single-day meets in athletics history.

Both vaulter stars mounted three attempts at a world-record height of 6.32 meters before settling for their historic main-draw clearances.
