In fulfillment of his promise to provide immediate relief and restore livelihoods lost during the recent violent attack in Ibadan, the member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, today made cash presentations to victims affected by the Molete market unrest.
Tolu Mustapha, his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, released a statement in Ibadan. The statement confirmed that this action matches his core political goals. He always aims to protect lives, property, and economic growth for his people.
Cushioning the Financial Blow After Molete Market Chaos
The Molete market sits right inside his constituency. The lawmaker felt it was vital to step in quickly. Hardworking traders lost their goods and assets to thugs during the surprise chaos.
A quick study after the attack showed two main groups of victims. First, traders under the Molete flyover bridge lost all their goods. Second, commercial drivers and private car owners had their vehicles and bikes stolen or smashed.
Financial Support and Oyo State Empowerment for Victims
Out of nine identified traders with heavy losses, six arrived to collect their cash. Three others missed the event because they are still recovering in the hospital from attack injuries.
The team promised to keep the money safe for the absent victims. They will receive their cash once they leave the hospital. No single victim will miss out on this Oyo State empowerment support.
This cash handout follows an earlier visit by the lawmaker. Hon. Olajide toured the market right after the crisis to show support. He called the violent attack a big danger to public peace.
Looking Ahead for the Oyo South Senatorial District
During his visit, the lawmaker made firm promises. He pledged full pay for lost goods. He also promised a brand new motorcycle to a beaten commercial rider. Plus, he agreed to settle all medical bills for injured victims in various hospitals across the state capital.
He proved his dedication to good governance. He assured traders and voters in the Oyo South Senatorial District that his office will always put safety first. He urged security agencies to catch and punish all sponsors of the attack. Finally, he asked locals to stay calm and go about their normal daily work without fear.
