An unspecified number of students have been kidnapped and a church set ablaze by gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
According to a report, the armed men on motorcycles invaded the community at about 7:45 am shooting sporadically in the air and headed straight to the Prince Academy in Damba-Kasaya where some students who had gathered to write the Junior School Certificate Examination (JSCE) were abducted.
According to eyewitnesses, some villagers were abducted along with the students. The Aminchi Baptist Church in Damba-Kasaya was also set ablaze by the gunmen.
The attack is coming after the military sent reinforcements to Kaduna to combat the wanton killings and kidnappings in the region.
At least 366 villagers have been killed by armed men in Kaduna from January to July this year, Amnesty international’s new report says.
