The General Officer Commanding of the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Anthony Omozoje has assured that those charged with maintaining law and order will never submit the society to attacks by criminals.

Omozoje gave the assurance on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the headquarters of Oyo State Police Command, when he paid a condolence visit to the state Commissioner of Police, other senior officers and policemen.

Speaking with journalists after a closed-door meeting with the police commissioner, Major General Omozoje also warned all miscreants and criminals who think they could occupy the society that it would not be allowed to happen.

The GOC said: “The Nigeria Police is an organ of the federal government for maintaining law and order.

“Likewise, the military also takes care of security for the government. We are partners on the same assignments.

“I’m here today to condole with the police command on the losses suffered during the recent crises in our society, and to let them know that we are together on this assignment.

“The military is out in support of the police. And other security agencies of government are also out.”

He said he came to the police command to talk to police officers “to encourage them as we return to our lawful duties.

“It is also to sound a note of warning to all the miscreants and criminals who think they can occupy the society, that it will never happen.

“We will not surrender the society to criminals,” he said.

The GOC advised law breakers to take their criminality elsewhere, as the command would not provide a conducive atmosphere for them.

Omozoje went further to reassure law-abiding citizens that security agencies were out with full force and intend to maintain law and order.

In his remarks, the state police commissioner, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu appreciated the GOC’s visit, saying that it had further encouraged personnel of the command to return to the streets to continue their assignment of policing the society.
“We have encouraged our men not to succumb to threat and intimidation by criminal elements when they return to the streets to carry out their lawful duties,” Enwonwu stated.
