The Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Musliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police, has charged police officers in Lagos State Police Command to take the killings of police personnel and damage to police formations as one of the hazards usually faced in a developing nation as Nigeria.

Smith stated this on Thursday, October 29, 2020 during an on-the-spot assessment conducted by him and some retired senior police officers.

In a statement issued and signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, he was also said to have commiserated with the entire police workforce, the government and state residents on the recent killings of police personnel orchestrated by hoodlums, who disguised as EndSARS protesters.

The PSC Chairman, who expressed shock at the killings and level of damages to police formations, public and private facilities, called for thorough investigation into all the cases recorded during the crises.

Encouraging police officers and men in Lagos to rejig their anti-crime strategies, Smith assured the families of police personnel in Lagos and other parts of the country that the high command of the Nigeria Police Force would do the needful to look after the welfare of its law enforcement agents as well as their safety, and defend their fundamental human rights according to the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
