A contract worker with Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State has committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
The LG, who was named as Aodoana Yaga, decided to kill himself because he was having a hard time as the council area had been owing him and his colleagues salary for several months.
It was further gathered that on Tuesday morning, Yaga doused himself in petrol and set himself alight.
A source who did not want his name in print said Yaga had been sick and had no money to take care of himself and decided to kill himself instead.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Benue State, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident to journalists.
