Senator Fatima Raji Rasaki, representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, has congratulated the Muslim faithful in Nigeria on the occasion of the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir.

This was contained in a release she signed and made available to REPORTERS AT LARGE on Wednesday.

The release reads: “I wish to congratulate and felicitate my Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate this year El Mubarak.

“As we all have the awareness that, the festive season is a period of sober reflection as a people, I, therefore, charge all our Muslim faithful to embrace and exhibit the teachings and tenets of the Holy Qur’an and the exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“I wish to emphasise that, it’s imperative in a moment like this for us as a People to pray for the peace, progress and unity of our nation Nigeria.

“I urge all our religious leaders to use their platforms to advocate peaceful co-existence among all ethnic groups in the country; and to offer prayers for our leaders at all levels of government, as Nigeria is better off as a united and indivisible entity.

“It’s equally essential to plead and enjoin our brothers and sisters in Islam as we celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, to see the season as a self-appraisal as individuals in the service to Allah and humanity.

“Hence, the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and exemplary qualities of Prophet Muhammad must be demonstrated in our daily lives, for a better society, the acts of forgiveness, alms-giving, togetherness, and selflessness must be remembered to be inculcated into our daily interpersonal relationships with others as we celebrate this season.

“While am wishing my dear brothers and sisters Muslim a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration and in the same vein, I wish to call on our political class to use their platforms to advance the cause of the people rather than a self-centred template.

“Also, it’s incumbent in our Muslim brothers and sisters to demonstrate acts of giving gifts and charity to the underprivileged and the poor in our midst at this Season, as it’s a highly emphasised value in Islam. The Qur’an says “Believe in Allah and his messenger and give charity out of a substance that Allah has made you heirs of.”
