Oyo FIBAN To Launch Oloye Lekan Alabi Media Resources Centre

The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) announces the intention to raise N150 million to establish a Media Resource Centre named after Oloye Lekan Alabi. The purpose is to immortalise and commemorate the 50th anniversary of Oloye Lekan Alabi in the media industry.

The launch of the Media Resource Centre is expected to be a major highlight of the 2023 UNESCO World Radio Day, which will be held on February 13th, 2023, at the Civic Centre, Idi Ape Ibadan, under the theme “RADIO AND PEACE.”

Oloye Lekan Alabi Media Centre shall be a comprehensive one-stop shop for resources, tools, and information on the most relevant issues impacting local radio and television stations and the print media.

The online portal shall provide access to new and evergreen resources to assist journalists and radio and television broadcasters in various aspects of their media businesses, from education and training to advocacy and innovation.”

It shall offer valuable resources onsite and in one easy-to-access online hub with timely content for local and international media communities.

The Media Resource Centre will provide broadcasters and journalists with access to news, documentaries, research, and educational materials.

Radio and TV stations will receive toolkits to better serve their communities and briefing materials to help the broadcast industry advocate on legislative issues.

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resource Centre, a website featuring resources to help media companies and industry professionals create and sustain a diverse and inclusive workplace, will also be available through the Oloye Lekan Alabi Media Resource Centre.

The major facilities at the Oloye Lekan Alabi Media Resource Centre are office space for the secretariat of Oyo State FIBAN, a seminar room, a conference hall, a mini guest house, a kitchenette, and a social space.
