Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde said he has broken the jinx preventing young people in the state from attaining their desires.

He disclosed this on Tuesday, 21st March 2023, at a re-election victory celebration at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Akanran, Ibadan.

The governor said that his administration was building a state where everyone would have opportunities, irrespective of the son of whom they are.

According to him, the young ones can now attain whatever position they desire.

“I want our younger ones to take notice of this. There is no morebareerr in Oyo State. Seyi Makinde has broken all the jinx,” he said.

“I have broken the jinx for the youngsters in the state. Our young ones can now attain whatever positions they desire,” he said.

Makinde said that his re-election was aided by certain circumstances and his sterling office performances.

He assured the state’s people that his administration would not discriminate against them in distributing democratic dividends based on their religious, ethnic, or political affiliations.

The governor, while thanking Sanusi for organising the mega party, appreciated other critical stakeholders that ensured his electoral victory in 31 of the 33 local government areas of the state.

He referred to the stiff opposition against him, especially from some political godfathers who have a big following.

Makinde said that the electorate’s political education level was high and that the people did not allow godfathers to dictate to them.

According to him, the campaign is now over. It is left for us to forge ahead.

He said, “The task ahead is to continue the good work and take our people from poverty to prosperity.

“It is a call for more work to progress Oyo State.

I assure you that my administration will not discriminate based on religion and ethnicity or where you come from.

“We will not discriminate against those who did not support us. This will be a government for the people of Oyo State and the progress of Oyo State.”

In an interview with journalists, Sanusi narrated how he turned down offers to support Atiku Abubakar against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and Makinde as the governor.

During the presidential election, I was called to support Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, but I insisted on supporting Sen. Bola Tinubu, the APC president-elect.

“I also stood my ground that I would support Makinde’s re-election. They said Makinde would not win because he refused to support Atiku.

“But, I was sure he would emerg because his performance was unprecedented during his first term as the governor of the state,” he said.

Some dignitaries present at the occasion showered encomiums on Chief Dotun Sanusi for a well-organized re-election party. They advised Governor Makinde not to relent on the good work he had started and prayed for him.

The event featured prayer sessions for the state and Nigeria by the various religious groups.

The award-winning and renowned caterer, Eunice Olaseeke Adeoye of Ripples Events and Catering Service, was on the ground with her staff, dishing out good and different varieties of food to the dignitaries present at the occasion.

There was also an acrobatics performance by Xplicit dancers while GMD, Agidigbo Fm, Oriyomi Hamzat, Oladayo Ogunbowale and Funmi Ilesanmi compered the event

Various religious group leaders, traditional rulers, traders, artisans, people living with disabilities, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) leaders, traders, medical practitioners, and ace entertainers were among those in attendance.
