The Vice-Chancellor of Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan, Professor Timothy O. Adejumo, has told matriculants of the university to begin to see themselves as leaders of today and tomorrow.

He delivered the charge in an address read at the matriculation ceremony for the 121 students admitted to the university for the 2023–2024 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor warned that the university has zero tolerance for every act of indiscipline, misconduct, and examination malpractice.

He advised the students to be the best version of themselves when their programmes are completed.

“You must not do anything that will disturb the peace of the institution; resist every evil peer group influence that may truncate or cut short your journey in this institution; shun all social vices; and embrace peace and harmony,” he charged.

Professor Adejumo assured that the university was committed to and prepared to guide the students through life, help them fulfil their dreams and aspirations, and make them successful.

He said the university would continue to develop and expand its infrastructure to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The Vice Chancellor solicited the support of students, parents, and guardians to work with management to make PCU a unique institution of choice.

He appreciated the support, contributions, and commitment of the University’s chancellor, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, and his wife, Rev. (Dr.) Victoria Tokunbo Oke, who is a member of the Governing Council, the management team, the institution’s staff and students, and the Parents Forum.

The University registrar, Mrs. Morenike F. Afolabi, administered the Matriculation Declaration/Pledge of Obedience to the students admitted into the Faculties of Pure and Applied Sciences and Social and Management Sciences.

A consultant psychiatrist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Dr Bibilola Oladeji, delivered the matriculation lecture “Escape from the Prison Called Drugs.”

Dr. Oladeji warned the students against drug abuse. She cautioned that it was better for them not to enter the trap of drug abuse, as it is not easy to escape from the prison of addiction.
