MANCHESTER United have added one more highly-rated teenager to their ranks by signing American teenager Matthew Olosunde.
Olosunde might be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow starlets such as Marcus Rashford and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson by making a reputation for himself in the first team at Old Trafford.
The versatile defender formally signed for United on January 29, however was pressured into being ready for worldwide clearance.
On Friday evening, Olosunde was thrown straight into the thick of issues as he featured for United’s Under 18 aspect towards Brighton.
The 18-year-old played a total of 90 minutes, but he couldn’t prevent his new crew from falling to a 2-1 defeat in Altrincham.
Olosunde, who was soon on the books of the New York Red Bulls, seemed set to attend Duke University in North Carolina after he was listed on their crew website.
However, he seems to have turned down their supply to affix Barclays Premier League giants United.
Duke head coach John Kerr mentioned the defender earlier than his transfer to England: ‘Matthew is an unbelievable participant who’s comfy enjoying himself within the again or in midfield.
He has a depraved tempo and has an unimaginable defensive restoration velocity. He has nice one vs one instinct on either side of the ball and can assist us immediately in many positions.’
Olosunde left MLS outfit New York Red Bulls to attend Duke University; however, his change of heart allowed United to snap up the teenage prospect.
Good for the club.
