GOVERNOR of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has described the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Mr. Tor Uja, as apt for the job.
Dr. Ortom, who disclosed this during his courtesy visit to the NCPC boss enjoined Uja to always put God first in anything he does, saying “because you are carrying God on behalf of Nigeria.”
He added that Uja has added more value to NCPC, promised more supports to the Commission, saying “we will continue to support NCPC with the available resources, while we would work with the Commission on exposing Benue State farmers to advanced agricultural technology in Israel.”
Discussing the challenges facing the nation, Governor Ortom said the only solution to Nigeria’s problems “is for us to go back to God, and stop paying lips services to God, rather we should give faithful services to God. It is only through this that the we can, as a people, overcome the challenges facing us at present.”
Earlier in his speech, Uja commended the Benue State government for supporting the course of pilgrimage in Nigeria, NCPC and meeting its financial obligations to the Commission.
Uja charged religion leaders and churches to always specially pray for the nation, the presidency and the governors in the states, “especially men like Governor Urtom, who are working hard to improve the lots of their people, and has worked conscientiously, in the past one year, changed the fortunes of Benue State and brought out the state from the dungeon of poverty and regression.”
The NCPC Boss intimated the governor on the primary mandate of the Commission, describing it as the only institution that represents Nigeria outside the shores of the nation.
“We try to do this conscientiously because the testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ, the integrity of this nation, the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians, among other things, are at stake.
“We set out to improve and enlarge the scope, and intensify the depth, of the issues we need to handle as a Commission. One of the great thrusts is to improve the spiritual quality of pilgrimage in Nigeria. And our desire is that Jesus Christ should be preached and known. want people to see Jesus Christ and then see the sites. We are working with pastors and spiritual leaders to ensure that this come to pass.”
Uja said that the Commission would ensure that people who go out of Nigeria represent the nation properly, saying “We are working out to completely eliminate the issue of abscondment, undue marketing and poor attitude in different places. We believe are capable of upright representation of this great nation anywhere in the world.”
Uja, in a special prayer section, prayed for Benue State for the visitation of God to propel unprecedented transformation in there state, thereby making the cynosure of all eyes, not only in Nigeria, but globally, adding that God should install abiding peace in the state.
