NTI Commences Training For Mathematics, Science Subject Teachers In Nigeria

THE National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), has commenced two-week training for Mathematics and Science subject teachers in the country.

The training, comprising teachers drawn from Abia, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Oyo and Yobe State is the third phase for the training.

Declaring the Cycle III second Cohort Training open, NTI Director-General and CHief Executive, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sherehu, said the institute will continue to strive to ensure that the teachers receive the best of training.

Sherehu said this was why the institute always improves on facilities put in place to train participants at the training, who according to him, will in turn transfer the knowledge to teachers in all schools.

His words: “I sincerely believe that the Cycle 1 and 2 trainings afforded participants the opportunity to develop positive attitude towards the teaching Mathematics and Science subjects and also prepared them to be better teachers through the SEI-PDSI approach.

“The theme of the Cycle III training is to actualise waht has beedn developed through Cycle 1 and 2 in the classroom. This is a very important and critical stage of their training. At this point, their ability to put into practice the ASEI-PDSI inactual classroom situation would be the turning point in Nigeria’s quest for technological advancement.”

The NTD boss commeneded the contributions and efforts of other stakeholders, particularly State’ Universal Basic Education Boards for always making available their counterpart funds and teachers.

Meanwhile, SMASE National Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Chimezie Aguiyi, in a message sent to the opening ceremony charged state across the country to adhere strictly to the SMASE guidelines while implementing the in-service training at both the state and local levels.
