The federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west, Hon Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has officially completed his registration with the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
This decisive shift follows his high-profile exit from his former party, triggered by a deepening PDP leadership crisis that continues to shake the foundation of Oyo State politics.
A New Chapter Amidst the PDP Leadership Crisis
The two-term lawmaker, popularly known as Odidiomo, finalised his transition by completing all membership documentation and formal processes required by the APM. This move comes only days after he publicly resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a telephone briefing with REPORTERS AT LARGE, the lawmaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, confirmed that the move followed extensive dialogue. Hon Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide made the decision after consulting political associates, loyal supporters, and key stakeholders across the state.
Mustapha stated:
“Yes, Honourable Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide Odidiomo has formally joined the Allied Peoples’ Movement and has successfully completed his membership registration processes. He is now a full fledged member of the party.”
Why Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide Chose the APM
The resignation of Hon Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide was first made public on Thursday. He addressed a formal letter to the Ward 11 Chairman in the Ibadan South-west local government area. The lawmaker cited “prevailing realities” within the party as a primary motivator, seeking a platform that offers more stability and inclusive engagement.
The original resignation letter stated: “Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately and I request that my name be removed from the membership register, database and all official records of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the ward, local government, state and national levels with immediate effect. I further request that all documents, records and materials reflecting my membership of the party be duly updated to reflect my resignation accordingly.”
This departure highlights the ongoing PDP leadership crisis, as prominent figures seek alternative routes to serve their constituents. By joining the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), the lawmaker aims to distance himself from the internal friction that has plagued his former political home.
Impact on Oyo State Politics and the 2027 Outlook
This realignment is set to alter the landscape of Oyo State politics significantly. Mustapha revealed that the federal lawmaker has already issued directives to his vast network of coordinators and support groups across all 33 local government areas. They are to begin harmonising their structures into the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) immediately.
The objective is clear: to build a grassroots powerhouse capable of challenging the status quo. As Hon Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide consolidates his base, the move is seen as a strategic positioning tactic ahead of the 2027 general elections. The influx of his supporters into the APM is expected to strengthen the party’s presence, making it a formidable contender in the region.
The lawmaker remains committed to a “progressive engagement” that ensures the voices of his constituents in Ibadan are heard. As the PDP leadership crisis leaves a void in the hearts of many loyalists, the APM appears ready to fill that gap under Olajide’s influential leadership.
