The South Korean firm broke the news during a public earnings call with investors on January 31, saying: “In 2018, we will differentiate through the development of cutting-edge products, such as foldable OLED smartphones.”
Earlier this month, it emerged that Samsung had invited a small group of CES 2018 attendees to check out prototypes of the so-called Galaxy X, so it could gauge response to the different designs it’s toying with.
Galaxy X Launching…
The Galaxy X will be equipped with a 7.3-inch flexible OLED screen that can unfold to form a medium-sized tablet, an Exynos 9810/Snapdragon 845 CPU, a dual-camera and at least 6GB of RAM, according to recent rumours.
Samsung reported a total operating profit of $50 billion for 2017 – its most profitable year to date – adding that it’s hoping to cement its lead with the impending launch of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus at MWC 2018.
