OGIDI Community in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State has conferred ‘Friend of Ogidi Award’ on the Director-General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, for his consistent act of promoting the Cultural values and heritage of the community.
Conferring the award on Ojo-Lanre today during the celebration of Ogidi Ela Day, Oba Sule, Ologidi of Ogidi described the Ekiti Council for Arts and Culture boss as “a rare cultural tourism journalist who is painstakingly committed to the promotion of Ogidi Day festival and it’s development.”
His words, “Ojo-Lanre has always bee with us, and he must have covered this festival for over 10 years. We are happy with him and appreciate his immeasurable contribution to our town, hence this Award.”
In his response, Ojo-Lanre expressed gratitude to the King and the town for appreciating the little efforts, pointing out that the letter of notice and confirmation of the award were sent in February when he was not yet a Director -General.
“I am overwhelmed with joy today. Ogidi is a town of upright people who appreciate and reward little efforts no matter the status of the doers.
The Award is dedicated to all cultural tourism journalists in Nigeria,” Ojo-Lanre said.
