There was drama in Ijumu in the early hours of Saturday as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) (name withheld) was caught on tape with a police officer, allegedly planning how to perpetrate electoral malpractice in the unit.

The policeman, attached to Polling Unit 009, Registration Area 11, Open Market Area, Ilupa Ijumu LGA, was caught discussing with the APC chieftain on how he would leave the PU open for the APC to win ‘as earlier agreed.’

Eyewitnesses at the unit, who reported the dalliance between the policeman and the APC chief to the Electoral Officer of ijumu LGA, Madam Mohammed Raliat, were told to call the DPO as regards the electoral malpractices of the police officer and the APC chief.

Eyewitnesses further noted that the polling unit had no tags for party agents and that only the APC party agent had a tag, which he pocketed.

Mohammed promised to take the matters up immediately but there has been no difference as of the time of filing this report.
