The immediate past secretary of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon Akinwale Akinwole, today formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso.
Akinwole who was received by the leadership of the party at Osupa Ward 9 Ogbomoso was joined by his teeming supporter in the party.
He was presented with an umbrella, which is the symbol of the party, and a membership card.
Speaking on why he defected, Wolekanle, as he is fondly called, said he is attracted into the PDP by the achievements of Engineer Seyi Makinde and his style of governance.
He said he considered the PDP as a credible and better platform that can restore hope and bring dividends of democracy to people.
“The APC where I was tried their best but their best is not enough. I am glad I am in PDP. I believe that with my contributions and the support of other people, the party will have overwhelming support and record a landslide victory in the subsequent elections,” Wolekanle said.
Wolekanle, who thanked the leadership and members of the party for holding forth and accepting him into their fold, promised to abide by rules and regulations of the party.
While presenting the party flag and membership card to the new defector, the Ward Chairman, Hon Tunde Martins Iyanda said Wolekanle is highly welcome into the party.
“We appreciate your coming because your presence in our midst will add value to our party, at the local, state and national levels,” Iyanda said.
Some of the party leaders, women and youth who spoke at the emergency ward meeting expressed happiness to have Wolekanle in their midst.
Recall that Reporters At Large recently reported Hon. Akinwole, the Proprietor of Ogbomoso United Football Club, clearing the air about the rumours going around the state about his stance to defect PDP.
