Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State on Monday afternoon was denied access to his ailing friend, the publisher of Parrotxtra Magazine, Mr Olayinka Agboola at the University Teaching Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Apart from Governor Makinde, many of his friends and colleagues who visited the UCH with the intention of checking on him were also not allowed to see him.
It was gathered that the CMD, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, and other top management staff of the teaching hospital who received the Governor told him he could not see Mr Agboola because they were expecting results from some tests and they could not confirm if his case is COVID-19 related or not.
Engineer Makinde was said to have met with Olayinka’s wife, Oluwatoyin inside the CMD’s office.
He reportedly told her that her husband is a valuable asset of the state who deserves the best support in a time like this.
He later told the UCH CMD that Olayinka has been his long time close friend and associate adding that this is known to all and he would do everything in his power to make him regain his health.
“He is Oyo State’s property, so send his bills to us.”
Insiders who witnessed the meeting also informed Reporters At Large that Otegbayo equally told the governor that Olayinka is their brother and friend at the UCH and assured the governor that they would give him the best treatment to keep him fit and restore his health.
Another source at the UCH told Reporters At Large that Mr Parrot as he is fondly called was given special attention by medical personnel attached and they are ensuring he gets everything on time.
Agboola, who is also the chairman of South West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP), last week Tuesday collapsed in the studio during an interview session with the Former Minister of Communications Barr Adebayo Shittu during his popular Radio Show, ParrotXtra Hour On Space 90.1fm.
