Nigerian football fraternities have been thrown into deep mourning on Monday morning, November 16, following the tragic death of ex-Shooting Stars player Yusuf Usman Usein.
Yusuf Usman Usein, popularly known as Eiye, a former player of Crown Football Club Ogbomoso slumped and died while featuring in a friendly game with his yet to be signed new club, Gateway United FC.
He was said to have slumped after the first stanza of the game.
According to Tunji Alabi, Crown FC Media Officer, he recuperated after being attended to by the team medics but later gave up the ghost at the club camp house in Abeokuta and his remains have been deposited at the morgue.
Alabi said further that Eiye who also plied his trade with the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3sc) of Ibadan, was a very hardworking, easy-going, loyal, very dedicated and God-fearing player.
Details of his burial arrangements remain sketchy as at the time of issuing this release.
Crown FC, however, pray that Allah forgives him of his shortcomings, uphold the families he left behind in this grief period and grant him a place in paradise.
The Ibadan born soccer star attended Chesire High School and the Polytechnic Ibadan.
The deceased started his professional club career at Stationery Stores of Lagos in 1990 before several stints at 3SC helping them reach the final of the CAF Champions League in 1996.
