Ijebu North Local Government Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun State chapter, Mogaji Dele Ajayi has mourned the demise of Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye.
Senator Martins-Kuye was a former Minister of State for Finance during the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s civilian regime between 1999 and 2003 and former Minister of Commerce and Industry between 2010 and 2011 under the Goodluck Jonathan between.
Martins-Kuye, born on August 16, 1942, died on Sunday morning at his hometown, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State, at the age of 78.
Ajayi in a telephone chat with Reporters At Large described Martins-Kuye’s death as a colossal loss not only to the party and Ogun State but the nation at large, saying his wealth of experience will be missed.
According to him, the late Martins-Kuye was a great patriotic Nigerian and a grassroots politician, who during his lifetime contributed immensely to the stability of Nigeria.
“I treasure his wisdom, his sense of history, his wit, his, integrity, his forthrightness and his principled stance,” Ajayi said.
He prayed that “a generation of leaders with impeccable integrity, a sense of selfless duty and service to our society and country will arise in memory of likes of Martins-Kuye.”
