SWEGOP: Online News Publishers Hold Two-Day Workshop On Professionalism At Ilaji Farms

Southwest Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) will on Friday begin its two-Day workshop for members in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The workshop which will start today, Friday is expected to end on Saturday afternoon at Ilaji Farms and Resort, Akaran.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr Remi Oladoye, the workshop was organised to promote professionalism and uphold the ethics of journalism.

He said that speakers from academia, legal, marketing and media world are expected to speak on different topics.

“The two-day workshop was put together by the association is to promote professionalism and uphold the ethics of journalism.

“Having observed the misrepresentation, misinterpretation and unethical conduct in the media space, the association decided to remind its members of our main purpose in the society.

“We have invited numerous speakers from the academia, legal, marketing and media to speak with members on different topics given,” he said.

SWEGOP is made up of online publishers in Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti states who came together to promote professionalism through self-regulation and provide a wider reach through multiple professionally managed online media outfits.

Presently, the association has over 50 publishers as members across the states mentioned above as it looks forward to bringing more professional publishers on board to get rid of vices ascribed to online news dissemination as we as uphold professionalism.
