A Federal lawmaker, representing Oyo South Senatorial District at National Assembly, Senator Kola Balogun, has called for urgent intervention of the Transition Company of Nigeria (TCN) to the poor supply of electricity in Apete, Ajibode Awotan Akufo and its environs in his constituency and the state at large.

Senator Balogun, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in a letter to the Managing Director Transition Company of Nigeria said, “it is pathetic that our people have to go through a whole lot of challenges which were expressed in their letter addressed to me and dated April 9th, 2021.

“Kindly use your good offices to grant their request which is clearly stated in the penultimate paragraph of the letter.”

The residents had through the Community Developmental Association wrote a letter to express their displeasure to the attitude and manner of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company in respect to the power supply in the communities.

In the letter signed by the Chairman, Engineer Rasaq Fabayo and Alhaji Ajadi Oladeji, the series of letters and dialogue with the IBEDC management about the marginalization of our
communities in terms of poor electricity supply proved abortive as nothing has been done concerning our complaints till date.

The letter reads further “Our findings have revealed that there are over 100 Transformers on our Feeder instead of 25 which is against the regulation. In establishing our fact, and our position on this matter, we hereby attach the letter written to IBEDC and the updates on how power is being supplied to the communities daily.”

As cultured communities of Ajibode, Apete, Awotan, Araromi, Akufo, Jeje and environs) we do not want conflict before a resolution is attained.

“Sir, in alleviating these challenges, we look forward to you, using your good offices to help facilitate the activation and the use of NIPP Transformers that has long been abandoned by the Federal Government.

In the light of the above, we humbly request that you should use your good office and power vested on you as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to facilitate the following provision of more Feeders to have a stable power supply, provision of more Transformers to the communities, metering of all unmetered houses in the communities according to the Nigeria electricity, regulation Commission, stoppage of over billing otherwise known in local parlance as “Crazy Bill, and regularization of PHCN Meters.
