Eight suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), alleged of an attempt to attack Orlu police station in Imo State and kill police personnel, were neutralised on Thursday evening by police and army personnel in a joint operation.
Two of them were also arrested alive, while four AK-47 rifles, pistol and several ammunition were also recovered from them.
Also recovered were eight vehicles alleged to have been stolen to carry out the attack.
Reporters At Large learnt that the incident occurred at about 5p.m. when the IPOB members went to the police station and started shooting.
But they were resisted by the police and the army, resulting in an exchange of gunshots, which brought down eight of the members.
A reliable source told Reporters At Large that the arrested members were helping the police in their investigations.
