National Executive Committee Member (NEC REP), representing Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ado Ekiti, Samuel Falade Olakanmi, has commended the prominent Legal ICON, and University Proprietor, Aare Afe Babalola for his courage over the proposed Summit of Hope.
He said Aare’s intentions for coming out with the summit was commendable because the proposal was that leaders should meet to foster the peace and oneness of Nigeria for the betterment of everybody.
Falade disclosed he was present at the 10th annual law week of the NBA Ado Ekiti which also was the 10th Aare Afe Babalola Annual Lecture where Aare Afe Babalola proposed the Oni to call for a Summit which he titled, the summit of hope and not a National Confab as being twisted in some quarters.
He said worried by the current situations in the country, it was true that “Aare proposed a summit of hope and he gave 50m to assist in the planning, he gave free hotel and a 7000 capacity hall just to make Nigerians have hope and leaders to restore the country”.
Falade, however, lambasted all those people behind the twisting of the proposed summit, saying “the people behind this malicious publication and their sponsors are cowards who should be regarded as great enemies of the Nation.
“No good leader, whether past or aspiring leaders would be happy to see Nigeria disintegrate and split as being clamoured by some groups and regions currently, this I think was what worried Baba Aare so much especially the kidnap of students and as a father, he said “if I die today I have nothing to lose but what of this young one” that with such a summit with eminent Nigerians in attendance the country will be restored.
“The high love for Nigeria’s unity and the urgent need to save her from obvious decentration made Baba Afe Babalola call for the summit to bring sanity, peace and unity that will restore it, so the idea that Afe Babalola was propagating a confab is unfounded and a cheap blackmail that has no roots,” Falade added.
