One of the prominent Tourism and Travel journalists in Nigeria, Mr Emeka Anokwuru of the Sun Newspaper, is dead.
The late media guru and accomplished tourism writer died after a brief illness at the age of 65.
According to a source, Emeka was sick, but he was already recuperating before he eventually gave up the ghost.
The President of the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET), Omololu Olumuyiwa in a statement announced the passage of one of his predecessors and a member of the association.
“Sorrow fills my heart since that sad moment, a sorrow that is deep and personal.”
According to him, “Elder, as popularly known, was a member of Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET) and a past president of our noble association.
“Elder is one of those of whom it can truly be said that he made the world a better place, both for those of us who were lucky enough to know him, and for many thousands who never met him, but have benefited from his work.
“Goodbye Elder, may your soul rest in peace.”
Over the years, Emeka Anokwuru worked in prominent media houses such as The Mail, The Nigerian Observer, The Post Express, Anchor, Traveller’s Weekend Magazine now (African Travel Quarterly Magazine) as Editor, New Age Newspapers, and The SUN.
