A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state and member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has declared that the welfare of civil servants, pensioners and the generality of citizens will remain a top priority if elected governor of the state in 2027.

Olajide Odidiomo declared this while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the Oyo state PDP elected officials and stakeholders meeting held at the JAGZ Hotel, Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.

The federal lawmaker emphasised that his aspiration is anchored on consolidating the achievements of the present administration under Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he credited with laying a strong foundation for sustainable development in the state.

According to him, the welfare of workers and retirees will remain central to governance under his leadership, noting that policies that prioritise the dignity of labour and social security are essential for a stable and productive society.

“Civil servants, pensioners and the ordinary citizens will remain my priority. Governance must be about the people and the quality of their lives,” Olajide said.

He particularly assured that the current policy of paying workers’ salaries on or before the 25th day of every month, as our in place by the Makinde administration would be sustained.

“The culture of prompt payment of salaries introduced by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has restored confidence among workers and strengthened the public service and I can assure you, that policy will certainly be sustained,” he stated.

Olajide also pledged to uphold and build upon other developmental initiatives introduced by the governor, stressing that continuity in governance remains critical to long term growth and stability of any state.

The PDP governorship aspirant described Makinde’s administration as a transformative era in the history of the state, pointing to improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic opportunities across the state.

According to him, the widely acclaimed Omituntun governance philosophy of the present administration represents a new approach to leadership that prioritizes accountability, inclusiveness and sustainable development.

“The breath of fresh air brought by the Omituntun administration will continue. Call it anything, Omituntun 3.0 will continue after the tenure of Governor Seyi Makinde,” Olajide declared.

He added that his administration, if given the mandate by the people of Oyo state, would follow the blueprint already established by the current government while introducing innovative programmes that would further enhance development across the state.

“That is how development works. When a government lays a solid foundation, the next administration must consolidate on it rather than start all over again. That is the path to sustainable progress for Oyo State,” he said.

Olajide further disclosed that PDP stakeholders present at the meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Makinde in recognition of what he described as the governor’s outstanding leadership across the state.

“Today, all of us here have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde. This is as a result of the remarkable developmental strides recorded across Oyo State,” he said.

He noted that the unity and stability currently enjoyed within the PDP in the state is as a result of the confidence party leaders and members have in the governor’s leadership style.

Olajide urged party members and residents of the state to continue supporting the Makinde administration to ensure the consolidation of ongoing projects and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
