As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares to hold its special National convention slated for 30th October 2021, a member of the National Convention Organizing Committee (Electoral sub-committee), Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has said that the PDP is ready to form a formidable team to rescue Nigerians from the bondage being experienced under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige who is the Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, disclosed this while speaking on the preparation for the party’s National Convention scheduled to hold in Abuja from Saturday, October 30, 2021, to Sunday, October 31st, 2021.

Ige, who was nominated as a member of the party’s Electoral Subcommittee via a letter signed by the duo of Chairman and Secretary of the National Convention Organizing Committee, Rt. Hon. Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri and Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde and handed over to him by Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, an aspirant for the position of Deputy National Chairman.

The letter reads: National Convention Organizing Committee has approved your nomination as a member of the Electoral sub-committee for the party’s 2021 National Convention Scheduled to hold in Abuja on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

“Your nomination was based on your long-standing loyalty, devotion, and selfless service to our great party. It is hoped, therefore that your contribution to the overall success of the assignment of the committee will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of our great party.”

Reacting to his appointment, Hon. Ige stressed that at the National Convention, the party would try to choose the right persons to look at the affairs of the party at the national level, stressing that, that is the reason why Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja the immediate past National Vice Chairman (South West) was tipped as a preferred candidate for the Deputy National Chairman position for southern Nigeria.

According to him, “thank God we have Governor Makinde our overall leader in the South West of Nigeria and with a combination of Ambassador Arapaja as the Deputy National Chairman of by God’s grace, and our total support for every step they are taking, we will take PDP back to the days where the party is controlling not only the South West but Nigeria as a whole.

“This will equally be extended to the National level because Nigerians are really looking for the PDP to form the government that can save this country. Things weren’t this bad when we were in power for 16 years but APC doesn’t have a plan, they just wanted power, they have power and here we are.”

“If we want to be honest with ourselves the ruling party has failed Nigerians. They have failed everybody that believed in them even at the time when Nigerians were going to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari, they thought he was going to deliver on his promises and used his experience in the military to safeguard Nigeria but look at it; we are sleeping with our one eye open. So it’s time for them to go and allow the PDP to form a good government that can save Nigeria.”

Buhari’s government has also failed woefully in the area of economy, health, education and road infrastructure as all these sectors are bringing untold hardship to the masses in the country under his watch.”

Ige, who used the opportunity to urge all delegates that will participate in the congress to rally around Ambassador Arapaja to emerge as the Deputy National Chairman, adding that Arapaja had in the past served the PDP in different capacities meritoriously at both the state, national and international levels without any blemish.
