The Ekiti State Government through the Honorable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Michael Awopetu, has commended Mr Rasaq Temitayo Zubair, the founder, TZAR Foundation, for his interest and intervention in Sports and Youth Development in the State.
The Commissioner gave the commendation at Ado Grammar School, the venue of the opening ceremony of TZAR Olota Community Unity Cup solely sponsored by the TZAR foundation.
The Commissioner noted that the state government under the leadership of Dr Kayode Fayemi has in time past called on spirited individuals and philanthropists to invest in sports and Youth development especially in the game of football.
He opined that the gesture would motivate and encourage our youths to show more interest to develop their talents and skills in the game of football.
“TZAR Olota Community Unity Cup is a welcome development.
Mr Governor has been asking citizens of Ekiti to support Sports Development in the State and this is one of it”. The Commissioner stated.
Earlier, the founder of the TZAR foundation, Mr Temitayo Zubair, hinted that he decided to sponsor the competition for the 16 interested football teams in Ado Ekiti as a way of giving back to the youth in his community.
He further stated that the exercise would ensure that footballers would channel their energy and skills to engaging and profitable ventures that would ultimately guarantee meaningful living.
TZAR, as fondly called, noted that the competition would encourage the youths to improve on their talents and skills in the game of football and be useful to themselves and the society at large.
“When I was growing up I was a fine goalkeeper and I think organizing this kind of competition now would help these young talents develop their skills, project the exceptional ones to National and International Community, as well as take them out of the streets and discourage them against social vices,” he said.
It will be recalled that the sponsor out of his philanthropic spirit declared the competition expression of interest to participate forms free to encourage participation and more importantly demonstrate his love for the youths and the game of football.
